They say the best accessories a girl can have are her closest friends. But when friends are far, you can definitely buy yourself an accessory! Urban Girl provides you with unique and affordable accessories right at your door step.
“The idea of Urban Girl happened to me while I was playing Facebook games like IT girl and Coco girl with my friends. I knew girls in Kathmandu loved accessorizing themselves,” says Nikita Acharya who’s doing her Undergraduate studies in Business Administration at Kathmandu College of Management. The company she co-founded, Urban Girl, is an online shopping site focused on girls’ clothing and accessories. Currently they are selling their products solely through their Facebook page. “When we first started, no one thought we would reach more than 20,000 likes within such a short time span,” says Nikita who plans on launching Urban Girl’s official website by the end of August this year.
Urban Girl’s products are mostly exported from Hongkong and Austria. Initially they started with only accessories. But as customers demanded more, they brought in shoes, clothes and bags too. The company has in fact given a new dimension to?the idea of online shopping in Nepal. Without having opened an official website, the company has served the needs of hundreds of young fashionable Nepalese girls.
Right from the start, their focus has been on social media marketing. While describing their unique approaches, Nikita adds, “We believe and work on a Win-Win-Win situation. The first win is for our customers whose satisfaction is our primary motive, the second is for our partners who help us grow, and finally the third win is for us.”
