The proverb about having your feet in two different boats advises you against it, but Indu Ghimire has found her strength in two very different sectors.
The proverb about having your feet in two different boats advises you against it, but Indu Ghimire has found her strength in two very different sectors. But she isn’t just afloat, both her feet are firmly planted and she is using her experiences to help her in the other.
Indu studied accounts but decided to run a publishing house. Ashutosh Publishers publishes mostly textbooks, and she?used her aptitude in accounts to write guidebooks and question banks for the subject. Eight years into the business, she finally feels like the business is coming of age.
Two years back when she felt Ashutosh Publishers was doing well enough, she decided to apply for the 27 broker ship licenses being distributed at the time. Among some thousand applicants shemadeittothe27andsheisnow among the very few women who are licensed share brokers in Nepal. She was introduced to the capital market as an investor and started with following trends with investment initially. Gradually she began understanding the dynamics and details, and realized she had a good hold over this. “The realization of what you are good at can come at any point in life so it is never too late.”
The contrast of creativity and calculations in her chosen two professions bring a sense of balance to Indu’s life. From her experience, if you are sure you can handle it, it is definitely a smart move to complement your current business with another strength; all you need is to find the balance.
